Hello MWABA,

Join us for Tandem Biking and Hiking, and spread the word about our Giving Tuesday campaign!

Tandem Biking

· Sign up by Tuesday: https://forms.gle/qR8Gxh4kCdhvUpak9 for a tandem ride on Friday, November 28th in Pohick Bay.

· Greta Ann is organizing a tandem ride on Black Friday (November 28th) at 12 p.m. in Pohick Bay Regional Park. We will ride around the beautiful Mason Neck peninsula situated between the Occoquan and Potomac Rivers. We will convene in a Pohick Bay park after for Gluhwein (mulled wine), hot cider, and snacks. See the 17-mile route here https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49788720 We’ll organize carpools from the DC area, or Greta Ann can help shuttle bikes and people from the Franconia Springfield metro.

· Our December 13th ride will meet in Bethesda at 3:30 p.m., and we’ll bike to the Mormon Temple Festival of Lights.

Hiking

· Join us for our December hike to Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland on December 7th. We’ll meet at the Medical Center metro at 8 a.m. Sign up here: Kevin.Andrews94 if you can drive.

Goalball

· There will be no Goalball practice on November 29th, the next practice is on December 6th.

Giving Tuesday Fundraising Campaign

· Take advantage of a donor match for Giving Tuesday and encourage your friends and family to donate to MWABA! Giving Tuesday 2025 – Metro Washington Association of Blind Athletes

Other Activities

· An MWABA member, Nate Mackey, is a member of the SUN (See Us Network) support group that meets monthly on zoom. SUN’s mission statement is: "A diverse group of individuals living with low vision, working to fulfill three following objectives: (1) to empower each other to live a life with confidence and independence; (2) To decrease social stigma surrounding low vision; and (3) To participate in research opportunities to better educate the medical community about low vision.” If you’d like to join, you can email: sun.seeusnetwork
