Hello MWABA!

Come to the Columbia Heights Community Center, 1480 Girard St. NW, Washington, D.C., on March 8 for goalball practice. Practice will be from 10 AM to 1 PM.

MWABA is planning a series of bike maintenance classes on Tuesday evenings. The dates are March 4, March 25, and April 1, and the March 4th class will focus on fixing flat tires. All are invited, and we’ll have some sighted members help guide the hands-on experience for our blind and visually impaired participants. The classes are funded by the Foreseeable Future Foundation and will be led by Leah Fantle of the Upshift Workshop. The classes will be from 6:30-8:30 PM at the R.E.I. flagship location in D.C., at 201 M Street Northeast. The content of each class will differ from week to week, so sign up for as many as you’d like to attend. Sign up here: https://forms.gle/hWozkHaNv6E3UUZW7

The Lighthouse Guild Scholarship Program supports academically accomplished students who are legally blind as they successfully transition to college and graduate school. Since 2005, Lighthouse Guild’s scholarship program has awarded over $2.8 million in merit-based scholarships to outstanding students from around the country.

The award is unrestricted, so it can be used as needed for: tuition, room and board, books, supplies, or travel. If you have a record of strong academic accomplishment and merit, apply for a Lighthouse Guild scholarship and take another step toward the advanced education you deserve. The deadline to apply is March 31st. https://lighthouseguild.org/support-services/academic-and-career-services/scholarships/?mc_cid=d3eb348d90&mc_eid=380c06bc10
