On Saturday, MWABA is hosting a checkpoint for a Women/Trans/Femme alleycat race that Radical Joy Riders is organizing. We’ll be at the Eastern Market metro from 4:15-7:30 pm. This is a scavenger-hunt style race and participants will do short tandem rides around the Eastern Market plaza at our checkpoint. Email us at mwaba.inc if you’d like to help out or if you have questions, or stop by. You can also call or text Shira (847-217-9505). If you’re a woman, trans, or femme and want to ride in the race, let us know and we’ll try to match up interested cyclists (registration is in Dupont Circle at 3 p.m. and the race starts at 4 p.m.).
We’ll do a morning ride on July 4th, and we can do a longer ride in Rock Creek park or elsewhere if people want to. We’ll send out the sign up form for all of our July rides next week.

MWABA is seeking members and volunteers to serve on our newly-formed fundraising and outreach committees. We’re looking for 3-4 people to serve on each committee, led by members of our board. This is a great way to get to know the board, gain insight into our organization’s operations, and support our programs. Please see below for committee descriptions and instructions on how to express your interest in joining a committee. Thank you so much for being a part of our community!
- Fundraising Committee: This committee will help us plan fundraising events, research new grant opportunities, and find new and exciting ways to expand the resources and capacity of our programs. A background in nonprofit development and/or fundraising is most welcome, but not required. This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance your nonprofit management skills! - Outreach Committee: This committee will help us recruit new members and volunteers, build new partnerships with other local organizations, and expand the reach of our programs. Community engagement experience is welcome, but not required. This is a wonderful opportunity to build communication and outreach skills. Our next MWABA hike will take place Sunday, July 14. More details forthcoming, but it will be an away hike in Maryland at either Patapsco Valley State Park or Catoctin Mountain.
