Spread the word about, and sign up for, New Tandem Captain Training!
As we start up our weeknight tandem rides, we will hold a training session for new captains on Thursday, April 4. As always, we can use help from experienced stokers willing to ride with new captains and experienced captains willing to share their tips and tricks with those new to tandem cycling. If you’d like to help out on April 4, please sign up at the link below. We could also use your help in spreading the word about this event to your friends, colleagues and social media networks by circulating the blurb below:

Cyclists Needed! Learn how to be a tandem captain with the Metro Washington Association of Blind Athletes (MWABA)! Come to a training on April 4, co-hosted by MWABA and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) at the Eastern Market Metro. Stop by anytime between 5:30-7:30 PM to try out tandem biking and experience the fun and camaraderie of tandems! MWABA provides the tandem bikes and trains interested captains and stokers. We ride on Thursday nights, alternating between meeting in Eastern Market and riding on the Anacostia Trail; and meeting in Bethesda and riding on the Capital Crescent Trail. We also do weekend rides. We can set up separate trainings for people who aren’t available on the 4th. Sign up at

Camping Trip Sign-Up: We’ve received funding from the Adventure Cycling Association for the trip! Sign up for our tandem bike camping trip by April 15th. The trip will be June 21st-23rd at the Marsden Tract on the C&O Canal near Great Falls, Maryland. Our rain date is August 23rd-25th. We’ll leave, probably from the Bethesda area, around 10 AM on Friday. If some people can only come for one night, they’ll leave on Saturday around 10 AM. Tandem pairs can either do a 15ish mile route or a 30ish mile route to the campsite. Everyone will bike back from the campsite on Sunday. Sign up if you want to join on a tandem or if you can drive with the group’s gear. Family members or friends may be able to join on single bikes if we have space. During the camping trip, participants can hike at Great Falls, bike on the C&O Canal or around Poolesville, and/or do activities at the campground. Please sign up here:

We’ll try to accommodate everyone who signs up by April 15th, and we’ll create a waitlist if the trip is full. Let us know if you have any questions or want to discuss with one of the organizers, or if you’d like us to hold an in-person or virtual information session. We’ll also do a camping and bike maintenance skillshare on June 15th. We might organize an additional advanced bike trip in the early fall depending on interest.

See you out there!
