Hike: Our next hike will take place on Sunday, January 21, departing from northern Virginia (meet-up location TBD, but likely a metro station on the orange/blue/silver lines). We’re traveling to Raven Rocks, in Bluemont, VA. This is a challenging 5.1-mile out-and-back hike along the Appalachian Trail. The terrain will be rocky, including some scrambling, and an elevation gain of about 1,500 feet. But hikers will certainly be rewarded with stunning mountain and valley views. If you’re interested in joining us for this next adventure, please sign up using the link below. We could also use several volunteer drivers so that we are able to include everyone who is interested in joining us. If you are available to drive, please reach out to Qudsiya at qnaqui and let her know how many passengers you can accommodate. We’re excited to see everyone out there!

Camping Trip Survey: We hope you’re ready for a thrilling outdoor experience! As we gear up for an exciting group activity, we are contemplating a one or two-night bike camping trip (or possibly multiple trips), and we would love your input to make it an unforgettable adventure for all. Picture this – a rejuvenating escape into nature, cycling through scenic landscapes, and spending the night under the stars. We had a wonderful 2023 bike camping trip (https://www.adventurecycling.org/blog/trip-recap-bike-camping-with-the-metro-washington-association-of-blind-athletes/) and we’re considering returning to the same campsite as last year, the Marsden Tract on the Potomac River. Of course, we’re open to exploring other options that align with the group’s preferences.
Important Details:
Duration: One or Two Nights
Camping Location: Marsden Tract (or possibly another site further away from DC if there’s sufficient interest in a longer biking distance)
Facilities: Please note that the Marsden Tract has port-a-potties and water, but no showers.
Before we finalize the details, we want to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey linked below by January 21st. Your preferences will help us tailor this adventure to suit the group’s collective interests: https://forms.gle/rVTYp7A5wk1gWTBW6
See you out there!
