Thanks to everyone who came to our Fall party! It was a beautiful day to gather with friends and celebrate all of the awesome things our members have done this year. 2023 isn’t over yet, but we are already looking forward to an even bigger 2024!

Maryland School for the Blind needs our help. They are seeking professionals to engage with their students through a variety of opportunities in January and February. Contact Diane Colburn at at dcolburn@mdschblind.org if you can participate in interview prep/practice and resume writing, virtually or in-person, on Jan. 20th and 27th. They are also looking for help creating short videos about career and college path explorations, and disability and accommodation disclosure stories, for their social media posts. Let Dianne know about your interest no later than November 20th.
Here’s what’s going on this week:
There will be no Goalball on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. So, come out one more time before Turkey Day! Practice will take place at the Columbia Heights Community Center on Saturday, November 18th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Watkins Regional Park is having a its bike and lights event this Sunday evening, November 19th. If you want to ride through the Winter Festival of Lights car-free, email mwaba.inc ASAP. Drivers and captains needed.
The Catalyst climb is early this month because of the holiday. Register for the November 19th climb here:

If you’re looking for some downtime between MWABA activities, check out this screening of the new documentary film, Unseen, which is making its DC premiere on Saturday, December 2 from 1pm-3pm at MLK Library. The film features Pedro, an aspiring social worker with low vision. Pedro shouts out the value of blind sports, and you’ll see him running, swimming, and tandeming. The film has English and Spanish captioning, as well as audio description in English. If you’re interested, you can register here:
