Goalball Tournament Overview
The Metro Washington Association of Blind Athletes is proud to announce that our second goalball tournament will be held at the University of Maryland - College Park on October 21st and 22nd, 2017. We have 8 team slots for men and 4 team slots for women (May vary based on demand).MWABA and our partners have made every effort to make this tournament available at an affordable cost and as simple as possible, so that your team can focus on competing and having a great time! Tournament Dates and Location
The second Capitol City Goalball Tournament will be held October 21st and 22nd at the the University of Maryland - College Park. Games will start on Saturday, October 21st at 8:00am, and end Sunday, October 22nd by 3:00pm.
Tournament fees are $40 per player and pool player. This includes lunch and dinner on Saturday, and lunch on Sunday. Coaches, drivers and additional guests must register to eat lunch and dinner . This charge is $20.00 per person for all meals.
**If you or anyone on your team has any dietary ristrictions, please feel free to contact any of our tournament directors to inform us ahead of time.
We have arranged for a block of rooms to be held at the Holiday Inn Express. These will be Double rooms, and the cost will be $99.00 + applicable taxes per night. Transportation to and from the hotel and the tournament venue will be provided by the hotel. You must arrange your transportation with the hotel independently in advance. Reserve your room by contacting the hotel listed below, and mentioning Capitol City Goalball.
**ROOM RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY SEPTEMBER 20, 2017 TO GET THE RATE STATED ABOVE.**
We suggest that those flying to the event choose either Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) or Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)as their destination airport. these are the closest airports to the hotel and venue. It is about a 30 minute ride from the airport to the hotel. If you choose to travel by train or bus, the hotel and venue is about a 20 minute ride from Washington, D.C. Union Station. There is no shortage of Ubers in the area, so we recommend this as an option for transportation from the airport or Union Station. If you have any concerns, or foresee any challenges with transportation, please contact our tournament directors.
All teams/pool players are welcome, including men’s and women’s teams. Spots will be given on a first come first serve basis, based on completed registrations (including receipt of registration fees). Upon receipt of registration form and fees, a confirmation email will be sent to qualifying teams. This confirmation email will confirm that your spot in the tournament has been secured and you can proceed with travel arrangements. We advise that you complete your registration quickly, so that you are able to book flights and transportation at better rates. Registration will close on Friday, September 29.
